Saxophonist who graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 1988. together with the pianist Mette Petersen, he founded a modern jazz quartet with which he released the critically acclaimed album Beyond the Mist. Since 1996 L. Anker is one of the leaders of the “Copenhagen Art Ensemble”, well known to fans of European avant-garde music. Dubbed the queen of improvisation from Denmark by the reviewer, this musician actively collaborates with pianist Craig Taborn, drummer Gerald Cleaver, pianist Marilyn Crispell, electroacoustic music creator Jakob Riis and others. She also actively composes for both large and small-scale ensembles. L. Anker’s work is characterized by a unique and multi-layered interpretation of contemporary academic, free improvisational, jazz and classical music.
In the ears of fans of free jazz, avant-garde rock and experimental music, C. Corsano’s name has undoubtedly sounded. The ace of drums and percussion, who broke into the music scene in the late 10s of the last century, soon became a highly sought-after musician. Gifted with talent and charisma, C. Corsano collaborates with the most relevant and essential names in music. If you take a look at Chris’ bio, you will come across names like Joe McPhee, Evan Parker, Thurston Moore, Richard Bishop, Bill Orcutt, Jim O’Rourke, Okkyung Lee, etc. Also, if you’ve ever listened to Icelandic goddess Björk’s Volta album or 2008’s visited her concert in Vingios Park, you can be sure that you have heard Chris.
He is an indescribably versatile and volatile fantasy musician who is constantly looking for new ways to talk about percussion instruments. Even without any drum or normal percussion instrument at hand, Chris could play a memorable concert with just what he found around him. It is no coincidence that in 2013 The US magazine “Spin” included him in the list of the 100 best drummers in alternative music.
On September 17, in addition to Lottes and Chris duet, G. Horonenko, A. Šiuris and K. Kmits trio will also take the stage. The recently formed collective that combines saxophone, electronics and percussion is an unpolished diamond of free improvisation, which you haven’t had many opportunities to hear live. Those who have heard it unanimously claim that the multi-layered and intense audio narration created by these guys does not leave anyone indifferent. The visitors of “Improdimensijos” are waiting for a pleasant and unexpected new acquaintance with the representatives of the young generation, who would bravely use their skills to upstage many veterans of the scene.
